We encourage all parents to get involved if possible, by spending time in the classroom. By getting “first-hand” experience with the children, you gain insight into the development of your child by watching them interact with peers and educators. And to be honest, it’s also a lot of fun!
On-duty days parents are expected to arrive at 11:00 and clean and put away the classroom and snack area. Each duty parent will also be assigned one take home job on their duty day (e.g. items to be cleaned, cutting to be done for another day’s craft).
Duty Parents do get a break on fees because of their time commitment to the school. Please see fees for more details. To participate in the program, the Child Care and Early Years Act requires parents complete a criminal record check. Please see the Registration Package and the Parent Manual for more information on becoming a duty parent.
Please note that siblings are not allowed to attend On-duty days as this alters our staff:child ratio as set out by the Ministry. We recommend duty Parents wear washable “play” clothing.
